Sunday, we hosted a Diwali & Halloween party for our apartment complex. This cute little girl dancing to a Bollywood song in front of over 100 people had to be one of the highlights!
Yesterday, we were helping a great family from our church move some things into a storage unit, and we came across an awesome tiny drum kit. Needless to say, we made Mark rock a beat…

Focus & Simplicity
We started a church. It actually happened. And now more than ever I can feel the tension of trying to keep things simple. Everything can be simple in theory, but to start something and for it to actually remain simple is incredibly difficult and takes a lot of work. I feel that. I’ve been really inspired by this quote from Steve Jobs:
“That’s been one of my mantras — focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it’s worth it in the end because once you get there, you can move mountains.”
-Steve Jobs [BusinessWeek, May 25, 1998]
We tend to make “Come, follow me” pretty complex. So, here’s to focus and simplicity.
In 3 Days…
In 3 days, a dream that has been around for 8 years will become a reality.
In 3 days, something that we’ve been praying about for years will finally be here.
In 3 days, 1.5 years of strategy will see the light of day.
In 3 days, 14 months of underground meetings will come above ground.
In 3 days, God will continue His redemptive work in Chicagoland.
In 3 days, there will be a new church in our neighborhood.
In 3 days, there will be a new church that is FOR our neighborhood…
Please join us in praying for our launch this Sunday, October 2nd.

Commissioning
Last weekend, we experienced a weekend full of COMMISSIONING. We, as church planters, feel that it is not only important to GO, but it is also important to be SENT. Community Christian Church in Naperville has been pouring people and resources into our church plant for the last year, and this past weekend, they officially SENT us. At all 5 of their weekend services they brought our team up on the stage and prayed and laid hands on us. It was one of the more powerful experiences of my life!
Here are some photos from the commissioning:
God Is Able
I know I’m a little late, but last week, I finally dove into Hillsong’s latest live record, God Is Able. Musically, it is very similar to the sound that everyone thinks of when they think of Hillsong, but I feel that the content for this record is a little more focused this time. The theme of God’s strength seems to be woven deeply throughout the record.
Perhaps it’s just the season of my life that I’m currently in, but this album has hit me in a special way.
Our God IS Able! And I’m claiming that over my life more than I ever have before…
Give the album a listen. I hope you find it as encouraging as I have!
